Patrick Swayze writing memoir with wife about cancer battle

Patrick Swayze is planning to write a memoir with his wife Lisa Niemi.

The Dirty Dancing actor is said to have been inspired to write up his life story, with help from his wife of 33 years, after spending a year battling pancreatic cancer.

The actor was originally rumoured to be planning to write an inspirational book to help other cancer patients but his spokesperson has confirmed that the book will be more of a memoir instead.

A source explained: “He’s in talks with publishers at the moment and with his health the way it is, it’s difficult to say when it’s going to be released but he and Lisa are determined to get it written.”

Earlier this month, Patrick denied suggestions that he was close to death but was admitted to hospital to receive treatment for pneumonia.

He was diagnosed with cancer last January after a run of digestive problems but after surgery and medical treatments, he filmed new police drama The Beast for five months last year.
