Paul McCartney got children’s approval to marry Nancy Shevell
Paul McCartney has reportedly been given the go-ahead to marry his girlfriend Nancy Shevell by his daughter Stella McCartney.
Stella was fiercely opposed to Paul’s previous marriage to Heather Mills but is said to thoroughly approve of New York businesswoman Nancy, who Paul has been dating for around a year.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Getting Stella’s seal of approval was very important for Paul. All Paul’s children had massive reservations about Heather - but it was Stella who was the most vociferous.
“Unlike Heather, Nancy is a multi-millionaire in her own right and therefore could never be portrayed as being interested in Paul for his money. She is calm, measured and mature, whereas Heather is fiery and impulsive.
“Nancy and Sir Paul are totally natural together and feel blessed to have found happiness together. Nancy is funny, bright, loving, warm and open. Stella has told friends that Nancy would make an ideal stepmother.”
Paul’s divorce from Heather was finalised last year after she was awarded a settlement worth £24.3million - and Nancy’s marriage to lawyer Bruce Blakeman was dissolved last month.
The source added: “Paul is a big believer in the institution of marriage, and his friends are in absolutely no doubt he will propose to Nancy in time.
“Her divorce has been hanging over them – with all the baggage from the past that it represents. So it feels like a great relief to have it all sorted.
“Now everything is in place for Paul and Nancy to make their lives together - with the approval of both of their families.”
