Gwyneth Paltrow: I’m amazed Chris Martin stuck by me after my dad died
Gwyneth Paltrow has said she’ll be forever grateful to husband Chris Martin for his support in the wake of her father’s death in 2002.
When filmmaker Bruce Paltrow died from complications linked to throat cancer, Gwyneth entered a long period of mourning and even though Chris was busy working on Coldplay’s next album, he supported her - and even dedicated tracks from their album ‘X&Y’ to her after writing them to help her.
She told Elle magazine recently: “It’s so hard for me to listen to some of those songs. I can’t listen to ‘Swallowed In The Sea’ without crying.
“I’m amazed he stuck with me, because I was a wreck. I can’t believe that he did.”
She added that Chris is “fundamentally generous” and is “spiritually evolved” with a “real heart” and a “kindness and a generosity of spirit and a willingness to understand other people” - but that doesn’t mean she’ll be walking down the red carpet with him any time soon: “It doesn’t behove us to be a public couple. So it’s just better if we don’t.
“We will never walk down a red carpet together and if people think it means we’re not together - ha, ha, ha - so be it!”
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
