Jade Goody’s cancer spreads; doctors give up hope of curing it

Jade Goody’s cancer has reportedly spread to her liver, bowel and groin according to new tests.

The former Big Brother was diagnosed with cervical cancer last summer and after initial surgery, has been undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments - but doctors performed the new set of the tests after she collapsed in pain at her home at the weekend.

After finding that the cancer has spread, doctors have now revised their previous estimate of a 40% survival rate and are now concentrating on keeping the reality TV star alive for as long as possible.

Jade told the Sun: “The doctors have confirmed the worst. The chemo hasn’t been as effective as I hoped.

“They are now trying to work out the best way to attack these new tumours and still have an effect on the original cancer in the cervix.

“All I can do is hope a different combination of drugs and all the expert care will mean the cancer can be kept at bay. That’s what I hope and pray will happen.

“I am devastated. I am frightened and I am angry. I don’t want to die because I have so much to live for.

“The reality is I have gone from a 40 per cent chance of a cure to seeing how long I can stay alive.

“The whole thing is absolutely terrifying. I am in a nightmare.”

Jade is expected to discuss the treatment options with her doctors later today.

My heart goes out to Jade and her boys who are going to get left behind. I have no reason whatsoever to dislike Jade at the end of the day she is a young girl who has made mistakes, we all have, negative mails about people can’t standing her makes me only think of how ignorant people are, you don’t really know her but if you watch her living programme you will see the real person. She is going public and making money for her boys as she does not want them to have the childhood that she never had.

I am sure if people could cash in they would. Whos going to pay for her children they will need that money for school uniform school trips college uni, first car wedding etc I am sure she would rather be here to do it herself. Jades done loads of charity work and will go knowing that she will pay for her kids when shes gone. Thats a lot more than todays society do when there alive. It is obvious that there are millions of people that battle with cancer, some win and unfortunatley some do lose, as many of us are aware. People are entitled to their opinions of Jade, but despite being a reality star, despite making money from her struggle, she is still a single mom, with two very young boys that need her. There is no considerate mother out there that would not do what she is doing for her boys. Why insult a woman that is fighting a losing battle? It’s callous and unforgiveable!! she isn’t Myra Hindley!? Absoloutely clueless! One of the main reasons for going public is to help make young people aware of the dangers of ignoring advise, Jade has paid a very high price for ignoring the early warning signs, plus she can control the amount of exposure to the press rather then have intrusive papparazzi at a time she and her family need to gather strength from each other, and hell if she makes a bob or two along the way who are we to condemn that, she is doing all she can to leave her family secure. Knowing your not going to be around to see your family grow up must be heart breaking and no matter how much money is thrown at you it doesn’t make up for what she and her family are going through.
As for the negative comments about her, god it must be wonderful to be so perfect that you have never made mistakes or said the wrong thing at the wrong time, maybe the words “let him without sin cast the first stone”
l hope that Jade is around for quite a while and that she has quality of life and a lot of love shown her during this time….

Sorry guys, but i can’t see an issue with Marie’s comments. At the end of the day, Marie is entitled to not like a celebrity such as Jade. She has only stated that she can’t stand her (fine, her opinion, she doesn’t have to love her), and that there are other people out there who are in a less fortunate position than Jade (wording possibly not the best, but i get it as i am open minded and have the intelligence of reading things in a variety of different ways). That aside, can we please stop slating Marie, and concentrate on commenting on Jade herself. Imagine if she read this lot…nasty messages against someone who wrote something that didn’t sound great. Equally, maybe a mistake Jade could have made herself in the past. Let it go.
That aside, i am shocked by Jade’s news. Very sad. I am glad she is able to provide for her kids by televising…if i could, i would. I think she has done the right things by her kids, but at the end of the day, those poor kids will miss their mum terribly should the worst happen, and she must be so emotional over the possibility of leaving them. Hopefully the drug works, and they get lots of time left with her. x

marie, you’re making perfect sense! one of the few who actually is about this topic. same here, i wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone and neither would you, just the way she is approaching this on the media side is all wrong. if she has enough money to buy a £130,000 car then she doesn’t have to milk this to cash in for her kids. and you’re right, other people who have similar or worse conditions who don’t have the money are left with nothing for their family.. jade goody is a nobody! you don’t see war heroes or people who give all the can to charity etc etc displayed in the media as much as this. i can’t stand her, everyone seems to have forgotten the comments she made, repeatedly, because of this. it doesn’t make her a saint that she’s dying. far from it.

For all of of you out there who are very lucky indeed to not have been diagnosed with cancer (Like I have), please be thankful for what you have. (or don’t have , please God – although I doubt there is actually a God or he would not have cursed us all that are suffering with this horrible didease)
For all those that feel it necessary to use negativity and then berate others who disagree, please think about what you are saying, and read it back to yourselves, before posting those sort of comments. You may, on reflection, look at things a little differently. As someone said, let he who cast the first stone….. etc.,
I too have small children, however, I am not in the public eye, and so therefore do not have the resources to be able to provide in the same way as Jade can for her two boys.
What I can do, is make sure that the time I have left, is spent wisely, and every moment is made precious, and I know for one, that if I were Jade, and were able to court publicity to ensure that my children have a secure future, then the hell I would do the same.
I know my time on this earth is limited, and it is important to me, (and also other sufferers); offer them to courtesy and perhaps a little empathy/sympathy that may be in your hearts.
Does it really matter where we come from, what we have done in the past, we all make mistakes, and believe me, I have made some BIG mistakes in my life…. however, that is what it is, my life, and I, and others should be allowed to live it the way we choose (TILL THE END OF OUR DAYS)!Please, those who read this and think F*$k Off, well, please find it somewhere in your very souls to find some compassion for everyone, everywhere who has to endure what life they have left, knowing that anytime soon, they ARE going to die.

Of course it’s reasonable for her to make as much money as possible and it’s Max Clifford who is arranging it all. Jade is too sick to do anything. It’s horrible, the poor child. Whatever you may think of her, here was a girl with no talent, beauty, money, class or education, but she sure had energy and seized her opportunities, because she understood the times she lived in.
However, what Jade should be pushing now is not “get a smear test” it should be “don’t ignore the results”. Jade said that “They [the doctors] didn’t pick up on what was growing in me” but it seems she had 4 bad smear tests and ignored the hospitals call-in because she could go on the Big Brother thing for 100 grand. She had pre-cancerous cells removed at 16: I had that too at 21. You must keep on top of your game after that! You don’t ignore it! She “hoped the disease would go away on its own”, oh God Jade. You could say she’s dying of stupidity and greed. Or maybe just youth: no young person thinks they’ll die. What are a few smear tests? 100 grand is now! That’s how lots of youngsters think.
