jade goodyJade Goody’s mum has revealed that the family is still trying to protect Jade’s sons from news of her cancer battle.

The reality TV star has two sons, four year old Freddie and five year old Bobby from her previous relationship with Jeff Brazier. The boys are currently being cared for by Jeff and Jade’s mum Jackiey Budden while Jade undergoes treatment for her cervical cancer.

Jade has previously explained her decision to shield the boys from the news and Jackiey told the Sunday Mirror that Jade has stuck to her stance even has her cancer has progressed: “Jade is a brilliant mother. She says, ‘I want my boys to see their mum smiling and healthy. I don’t want them seeing me in hospital, not like this’.

“Even when she was in real pain, she was hiding how bad she felt. We don’t want any tears. It’s just lots of fun and loads of games with the kids - that’s what Jade wants.

“Freddie’s too young to know what’s going on, and we are determined to try and keep it like that.

“But Bobby’s got an idea things aren’t good. He asked me if mummy will come to his school play on Thursday.

“I looked at his little face and said ‘She is still quite poorly, darling. I don’t know if she will be at the play, but your Nan and Daddy will be there.’ He just looked at me and nodded. Fingers crossed she’ll get there to see him.”

Last week, Jade discovered that the cancer had spread to her bowel, liver and groin and at the weekend, underwent emergency surgery to remove a tumour from her bowel.
