Here’s our fashion rundown for last night’s BAFTA ceremony in London.

The gowns were quite as out-and-out glam as they have been for the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards - and as they surely are to be for the Oscars later this month - but that meant there were less catastrophic mistakes on the red carpet.

As ever, black was a popular colour choice - Kate Winslet went for a safe black Zac Posen, while Angelina Jolie’s Armani Prive gown was livened up with a splash of colour. Emma Watson picked a gorgeous gown by British label Temperley and Thandie Newton’s vintage prom dress had a lovely shape. Alesha Dixon’s Giovanni gown was a little too frilly for our liking though.

Marisa Tomei, in Etro, and Emily Mortimer both pulled off their full length, neutral tone gowns, while Freida Pinto looked unbelievably pretty in a pink Oscar de la Renta gown and Abi Titmuss could have maybe used a bit more support in her white halter neck.

Finally, bringing colour for the carpet, Sharon Stone looked amazing in her red Galliano and Kristin Scott Thomas looked thin but glamorous with her beaded bodice and cobalt blue skirt.

Who did you think looked best? And worst? Have your say in the comments section below.
