Sophie Ellis-Bextor gives birth to second child nine weeks early

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has given birth to her second child, another baby boy.

Kit Valentine was delivered in an emergency caesarian section nine weeks before his due date and weighed in at just 2lbs 10oz, but both mother and baby are said to be “doing well”.

Sophie’s mum Janet Ellis explained: “Sophie’s just had her second little boy. He was early, nine weeks early, but he is doing fine. He is doing very well.”

Singer Sophie and husband Richard Jones, guitarist with The Feeling, already have a four year old son Sonny. Sophie had pre-eclampsia during her first pregnancy and had to deliver Sonny nine weeks early too but her spokesperson wouldn’t confirm whether or not that was the reason for Kit’s early arrival this time around.

Sophie announced the pregnancy on her website in November.
