Coronation Street’s Alison King gives birth to first child, a baby girl

Coronation Street star Alison King has given birth to her first child.

The actress gave birth to the little girl in a Manchester hospital yesterday.

A spokesperson for the soap confirmed the birth saying: “Alison has given birth to a baby girl. She weighed in at 6lbs 7oz.

“No name has been decided on yet but mum and baby are doing well.

“Everyone at Coronation Street sends Alison and her partner Adam Huckett their best wishes on the birth of their daughter.”

Alison started dating sound assistant Adam in 2007 and before the birth told OK magazine that Adam is hoping for a large family: “He’s like “Come on, King. Knock em out!” I’d like more but I just want to concentrate on this one first.”

Alison’s pregnancy was not written into the show and instead producers hide her growing bump with props and carefully fitted outfits. Alison’s character Carla left the show on Friday but will return later in the year after Alison completes her maternity leave.
