Kate Winslet: my daughter’s giving me red carpet fashion advice
Kate Winslet has revealed that she’s been getting red carpet fashion advice from her eight year old daughter Mia.
The actress has had to select a multitude of dresses for her red carpet appearances over the last few months - first for the high profile premieres of Revolutionary Road and The Reader, then for the numerous award ceremonies where she has been nominated (and more often than not won) the Best Actress trophies.
She told The View recently that Mia has been taking an interest in Mum’s nice gowns: “I have an eight-year-old daughter and she is a little bit of a fashionista.
“In fact, just last night she said to me: ‘Mum, just a personal question. Why do you wear so much black?’
“I said to her what colour do you think I should wear? And she said, ‘Pink, no not pink. Anyone over the age of 10 shouldn’t wear pink!’”
Kate wore a black Zac Posen gown for her appearance at the BAFTAs on Sunday, another black dress for the UK premiere of Revolutionary Road and yet another one for the Golden Globes but went for cobalt blue for last month’s SAG Awards. She has at least one more big event on her calendar before the end of the awards season: next week’s Oscars.
