The former Spice Girl and her partner of six years Thomas Starr welcomed their daughter, their first child together, yesterday around 4:10pm and they have named her Scarlet.

The little girl weighed in at a healthy 8lbs 3oz and is both “beautiful” and “doing fine”.

Mel is the last of the five Spice Girls to become a mum: Melanie Brown was the first with now ten year old daughter Phoenix Chi (she also has a 22 month old daughter Angel), followed by Victoria Beckham’s three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, then Geri Halliwell gave birth to daughter Bluebell in May 2006 and Emma Bunton had a baby boy, Beau in August 2007.

Mel and Thomas are set to marry this summer.
