Howard K Stern in Anna Nicole Smith drug supply charge
Anna Nicole Smith’s former lawyer and “spiritual husband” Howard K Stern has been charged with conspiracy to provide the late star with prescription drugs.
Anna Nicole died of an accidental overdose in February 2007 after using controlled substances to excess for more than three years. Stern, along with her doctors Dr Sandeep Kapoor and Dr Khristine Eroshevich, has been accused to conspiring to supply her with the medication between June 2004 and January 2007.
Stern and Kapoor both turned themselves in to police last night and after being formally charged, have been release on $20,000 bail. A warrant has been issued for Eroshevich’s arrest.
The trio have been charged with a total of eight felonies, including unlawful prescription of controlled substances and obtaining opiates by “fraud, deceit or misrepresentation”.
Anna Nicole died in a hotel room in Florida on 8th February 2007 and coroners’ concluded she died as a result of “combined drug intoxication”. No illegal drugs were found in her system. Three months earlier, her son Daniel Smith had died from a similar combination of prescription drugs.
