Lindsay Lohan’s arrest warrant a misunderstanding, says lawyer
Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer has dismissed the warrant for the starlet’s arrest as “born out of a misunderstanding”.
The warrant for $50,000 was issued on Friday in connection to her two DUI arrests from 2007, reportedly violation of her terms of probation. As part of her plea bargain, she was sentenced to 2 days in jail (of which she spent just 84 minutes behind bars), three years probation and an 18-month alcohol education programme.
Her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley issued a statement yesterday saying: “Since her case was resolved, Ms Lohan has been in compliance with all the terms and conditions of her probation and all orders of the court.
“The warrant issued on Friday was, in our view, born out of a misunderstanding which I am confident I can clear up next week.”
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that a hearing has been set for Monday morning and the judge “apparently has indicated that Ms Lohan should be in attendance”, but she is not expected to surrender to police before then.
Lindsay checked into a rehab programme immediately after her first DUI arrest in May 2007. However just days after her release in July 2007, she was arrested for a second time following a car chase with her former assistant. She checked into a more intensive rehab programme for the next three months before serving her 84 minutes in jail in autumn 2007.
