Amy Winehouse appears in court to deny assault charge
Amy Winehouse has said she’s not guilty of attacking a woman after a charity event in London.
The singer was arrested for the assault earlier this month following the incident after the End of Summer Ball in aid of the Prince’s Trust last September. Amy had performed at the event but is said to have hit Sherene Flash on the way out.
Amy attended the Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning accompanied by her dad Mitch Winehouse and pleaded not guilty to the charge of common assault. The case has now been adjourned until 23rd July.
The outstanding charge means that Amy is unlikely to be able to perform at scheduled dates in the US including the prestigious Coachella Festival next month.
In related news, Amy’s dad Mitch has labelled her a “stupid girl” for wanting to reconcile with her husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
Mitch told Closer magazine: “Amy wants to resolve the situation. She’s guilty of loving him, stupid girl.
“I’m not saying she is going back to him, she just wants to talk. But I want her to get divorced. I want Blake and his family out of our lives.
“It’s the only chance Amy has. She nearly ended up dead thanks to him. Amy’s a musical talent, but since she’s been with Blake she’s barely been able to perform on stage, let alone make a record.”
He added: “[Blake]’s after £5million [of Amy’s money]. Does he think we’re idiots?”
Amy married Blake in May 2007.
Do you think Katie Price's marriage to Alex Reid will last?
