Britney Spears wants Sam Lutfi to help “free” her, says his sister
Britney Spears is reportedly trying to break free from her conservatorship after 14 months under her dad’s control.
Jamie Spears was granted the control order in February 2008 following Britney’s second hospitalisation in less than a month. The singer is said to have initially complied with the order as it allowed her to regain access to her sons - but last autumn said it was “worse than prison” because she didn’t know when she would be free again, and her former advisor Sam Lutfi and ex-boyfling Adnan Ghalib were banned from contacting her earlier this year after Jamie felt they were trying to “free” her and disrupt her recovery.
However, Lutfi’s sister Christina testified in court on Wednesday that Britney has been contacting Sam because she wants her help.
Christina told the Los Angeles court: “[Britney] told me she wanted to get a hold of Sam. She asked me, ‘Will Sam be able to help me?’
“She wanted him to help her find a lawyer, and wanted someone to get a prepaid cell phone to her.
“She was scared because her father was blackmailing her with visitation rights over her kids.”
However, Jamie Spears’s legal team insist that the opposite is true: “[Britney] was in such fear [of Sam], she asked if I could get him arrested, to keep him away from her.”
Under the restraining orders issued earlier this year, Sam and Adnan were banned from contacting Britney in any way and Britney’s phone calls, as well as her social life in general, is monitored by Jamie and his helpers.
Britney is only said to have agreed to the conservatorship being made “permanent” to allow her to gain the insurance necessary for her currently ongoing tour. Britney is the in the middle of the North American run of gigs and is due to perform ten dates in the UK in June.
