Gwyneth Paltrow denies reports she’s following Madonna back to the US
Gwyneth Paltrow has denied reports that she’s following good friend Madonna back to the US.
The Shakespeare in Love actress moved to London in 2003 after she started dating now-husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and their daughter Apple was born in the city the following year. Both being high-profile exercise-loving mums, Gwyneth struck up a friendship with Madonna, who moved to the UK after marrying Guy Ritchie in 2000, and they are both said to have been upset at the thought of losing that closeness when Madonna moved back to New York following her separation late last year.
Gwyneth has spent an increasing amount of time stateside over the last few months and rumours that she, Chris and their two children are planning to make a permanent relocation back to the US were fuelled yesterday after removal men were spotted carrying furniture and boxes of belongings out of their family home in London.
Her publicist Stephen Huvane acknowledged that some of the crates were for overseas shipping but said: “They are not moving house - just removing and replacing some things.
“Gwyneth has always lived in the US half of year and the UK the other half. She will be working on Iron Man 2 for the next three to four months in Los Angeles and then she usually spends her summer in New York.”
Gwyneth hated London when she first relocated, calling it “cold and depressing” but last year said it was a “wonderful city” and she “can’t get over how green it is”.
