madonnaMadonna is reportedly taking steps to ensure her adoption appeal will be a success.

The singer was lined up to adopt four year old Mercy James from Malawi last week but her request for an interim adoption order was turned down because she did not meet the country’s residency requirements. Under Malawian law, potential parents must live in the country for at least 18 months before the adoption can take place but Madonna had only arrived in the country the previous weekend and had only visited the country briefly to finalise son David’s adoption order in 2008.

Now according to the Sun, Madonna has instructed her architects to draw up plans for a luxury home in the country to facilitate the adoption and to give her a better base over there.

A source told the newspaper: “Madonna has a big, beautiful plot of land over there already.

“She’s planning to build a girl’s school in the Chinkhota village [where Mercy currently lives] and those designs are well under way.

“But she’s gone back to the designers and asked if they could accommodate a family home on the plot or on adjacent land.”

The star, who is also mum to twelve year old daughter Lourdes and eight year old son Rocco, is now based in New York, following her split from Guy Ritchie last year.
