DJ Sam finished with Lindsay last weekend after a series of rows and her family are said to have gone to police to investigate whether they could get a restraining order against for Mean Girls actress, worried that she would cause problems for Sam. But a source told the People newspaper that Lindsay focused on partying instead: “Lindsay dealt with the split by going off the rails for three days.

“Friends are very, very worried about her. She could be about to combust and do a Britney.

“She’s desperate to win Sam back but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Sam can’t deal with her unpredictable behaviour.

“She is chilled and calm, Lindsay’s the complete opposite. Her behaviour is very volatile.”

Another source close to the pair told People magazine: “Sam and Lindsay are speaking and Sam has begged Lindsay to get help.

“Lindsay, despite appearances, is insecure and has relied on Samantha and their relationship to build her up.

“Lindsay barely sleeps, which explains a lot of her behavior. She’s exhausted. She can’t even sit down for a minute without pacing around the room. It’s really sad.”

But the source added that there has been one good thing to come from the split - it’s been a bonding experience for Lindsay and her 15 year old sister Ali Lohan: “Lindsay never realized until this happened how important her sister was to her.

“Through all of this, her sister has been there for her and coaching her through it. Lindsay doesn’t even know what she would have done without her.”
