Britney Spears’s tour expansion in doubt due to economy

Britney Spears’s Circus tour may not be extended as expected in light of the current slump in the world’s economy.

The singer is currently over halfway through the North American leg of the tour and has another nine scheduled performances in the UK next month - but had been hoping to expand the tour further to the rest of Europe, Australia and Asia later in the year.

A source close to the star explained: “Britney’s loving being onstage again. Health-wise, she’s progressing every week, it’s amazing.

“[But with her conservatorship and custody arrangements in addition to the standard tour expenses] it’s very expensive to run the tour.

“She wants to keep going, to do a full scale world tour, but her managers are having to look very closely at the state of the economy and the value of the dollar overseas.”
