josh hartnettJosh Hartnett has downplayed his recent hospital stay for a gastrointestinal problem.

The Black Hawk Down star spent five days in hospital in Los Angeles late last month after a recurrence of stomach problems he first experience during last year’s run of Rain Man in the West End.

He’s now told People magazine: “I’m fine. I just had a little stomach bug.

“[There’s] nothing to worry about. I went to the hospital and it was literally just a 24-hour thing. I was so dehydrated that I needed to be on a couple of IVs, but I’m good.”

He added that he thinks the problem dates from filming overseas: “It’s been reoccurring because I have been spending a lot of time in Third World countries, and I occasionally drank the water when I shouldn’t have - and sometimes it catches up with you.”
