jade goodyJade Goody’s mum Jackiey Budden has revealed the reality TV star begged her to smother her with a pillow in her final days.

When she was told her cancer was terminal in February, Jade herself had confessed that she’d begged doctors to help end her life so she wouldn’t have to suffer - and now Jackiey has said she repeated the request when she was dying last month.

Jackiey told This Morning: “We watched her slowly disintegrate. It was more heartbreaking than just seeing someone die.

“She wanted me to put a pillow over her head. I really didn’t want to see her go that way. I thought, I don’t want to have to put a pillow over her head and suffocate her without anyone knowing.

“If she was on a machine, we’d have to turn it off. But when you’ve got cancer you don’t have a machine.

“Sad as it sounds, we just wanted her to go there and then. I used to say, ‘C’mon, Jade, you can go now.’ But she wouldn’t.”

Jade died in the early hours of Mothers’ Day, with Jackiey, husband Jack Tweed and friend Kevin Adams at her side: “She didn’t want to be alone, so holding her hand on her passing was what she wanted.”

Jackiey added that she is glad she could help her daughter in her final weeks: “I wasn’t a mum to her when she was little. She stayed alive until I could be a mum again. I was and I did it all.

“The only sad thing is, I became a mum too late. I think, was it because I’m a bad mum that she was taken away from me. But me, Jack and Jeff [Brazier, the father of Jade’s sons] are good together now [and] I need to be a mum to those boys.”
