Casey, who is the father of Jamie Lynn’s 10 month old daughter Maddie, was rushed to hospital with head injuries after the incident in Louisiana in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to reports, Casey was driving four friends in his truck when he swerved to the right of the road into a ditch, then over-corrected his steering back onto the road, causing the vehicle to flip over. Three people, including Casey, were ejected from the truck in the crash but while the other two refused medical help, Casey was transferred to hospital with “moderate injuries”.

Initial reports claimed he had “a cracked skull” and had been “in and out” of consciousness but then added that the injuries were “not as serious as we thought at first”.

Because of his hospitalisation, police didn’t speak to Casey until nearly four hours after the crash but said that once they did, they found no reason to suspect he had been drinking before the incident and he was just charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle, at a misdemeanor level.

A second source told People magazine that Casey is “fully alert” but resting: “He’ll stay in hospital so doctors can keep a close check on him but [they] are pretty positive he’s going to be okay.

“He should recover fully. Of course you never know, but they’re not expecting him to get any worse. They are planning no surgery unless something happens.”
