Anna Nicole Smith’s former lawyer & doctors plead not guilty to drug charge
Anna Nicole Smith’s former lawyer and doctors have pleaded not guilty to charges they conspired to keep the late Playboy star supplied with prescription drugs.
Howard K Stern, who was Anna Nicole’s partner at the time of her overdose in February 2007, and doctors Sandeep Kapoor and Khristine Eroshevich appeared in court in Los Angeles yesterday to enter their pleas. Charges were filed against the trio in March after a two year investigation by police in California.
According to the charges, the three conspired to keep feeding Anne Nicole’s addition to prescription drugs including methadone, clonazepam and chloral hydrate. If found guilty on all the charges, they face up to 33 years in jail.
They are due to return to court for a preliminary hearing on 8th June.
Anna Nicole died in a hotel room in Florida at the age of 39. She was survived by partner Stern, and her then-five month old daughter Dannielynn. Her 20 year old son Daniel Smith had died of an overdose just days after Dannielynn was born in September 2006. After a paternity fight, Dannielynn now lives with her biological father Larry Birkhead in California.
