Cynthia Nixon announces engagement to girlfriend Christina Marinoni

Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon has revealed she’s planning to marry partner Christina Marinoni.

Cynthia announced their engagement at the Love, Peace and Marriage Equality rally in New York City on Sunday, telling the crowd that they made the decision to marry last month.

The couple began dating at the start of 2004 but Cynthia didn’t confirm their relationship until 2005. The couple raise Cynthia’s children - fourteen year old Samantha and eight year old Charles - from her previous relationship with Danny Mozes.

Last year Cynthia revealed she was much more interested in marrying Christina than she had been about partner of 15 years Danny, because it would be such a positive political statement: “I think that to get married to her would be a little act of rebellion.

“It’s like if you’ve never had the vote and then you get it you’re going to run out there and vote.”
