Katie Price: I’ll do whatever is necessary to save my marriage
Almost a fortnight after their separation was announced, the couple arrived back in the country late last week - but crisis talks on their marriage were postponed and they both met with lawyers instead. Peter was adamant that he’d only meet to talk about the couple’s children but Katie, who is also known as glamour model Jordan, is said to have wanted to chat about a possibly reconciliation too.
She is quoted in the News of the World as telling a friend: “I’ll take Pete back tomorrow. I’ll drop the divorce if he gives me another chance.
“If I only I could turn back the clock. I’ve made the biggest mistake of my life and it’s all my own fault.
“If I’d known I was driving Pete away so badly I would have pulled myself back. I don’t want a divorce, I just want us back as a family again.”
But a source close to Peter explained he’s not interested: “Pete will always love Kate but he didn’t just walk away on a whim. This wasn’t just about one drunken night. He left because of years of frustration.
“It’s very sweet that Kate is now realising just how much she has screwed things up, but it’s not going to make any difference at this stage.
“Pete never wanted this to happen and it took a lot for him to walk away. At the moment there is no way back and I don’t see that changing.”
The couple’s youngest children son Junior and daughter Princess Tiaammi, who turn four and two respectively next month, were dropped off at Peter’s temporary home - his manager Claire Powell’s house - on Friday night to allow Peter to see them for the first time in more than 10 days. He spent yesterday with the children at the seaside near Hove, East Sussex while Katie took her older son Harvey, from her previous relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke, out for lunch in Brighton. Peter is expected to have some time with Harvey, who considers Pete is dad, today.
Peter told reporters yesterday: “I can’t talk about how Kate’s doing but I’m just happy to see my kids. They are what’s important right now not anything else.
“All I want to focus on is them. It’s really good to be out with them again. I’ve missed them.”
A source close to Katie added: “Kate’s committed to working with Pete. [Letting him see the children] is all about her showing him she can be mature and she will do what’s best for the kids.
“She hopes after this he’ll agree to a face-to-face meeting. At that point she believes Pete might lose the tough exterior he’s been presenting to her.”
Katie has signed up with infamous divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton. Shackleton represented Paul McCartney in his divorce from Heather Mills, Princes Charles & Andrew, and is believed to have been one of the lawyers involved with Madonna’s low-key split from Guy Ritchie.
A further source told the People newspaper: “She has come to realise a divorce is the last thing that she wants.
“Going to see the solicitors made her think again, that divorce isn’t what she wants. So she is desperate to sort out a meeting with Pete so that they can thrash out a deal.
“There’s a lot of posturing going on at the moment on both sides. But Katie believes there can still be reconciliation.
“She wants to sit down with Pete, just the two of them alone, over the next few days.”
