The event took place in the grounds of Meg’s White Stripes bandmate - and her ex-husband - Jack White’s home in Nashville. Jack’s bandmate from his other musical projects, The Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, Jack Lawrence and his girlfriend Jo McCaughey also married in the ceremony.

A source reported: “It wasn’t a traditional wedding by any means but no one really wanted that.

“It was a great day with lots of friends and happiness.”

Meg and Jackson, the son of Patti Smith & Fred Smith, announced their engagement earlier in the month. Meg was previously married to Jack between 1996-2000 with Jack taking her surname. In the early days of the White Stripes, the couple repeatedly denied their marriage, insisting that they were actually brother and sister. Jack is now married to model Karen Elson.
