Jack Tweed released from jail after serving half his sentence
Jack Tweed has been released from jail after serving half of his 12-week sentence.
Jack was found guilty of assaulting a taxi driver at the start of March but his sentencing was postponed until the middle of April in light of his new wife Jade Goody’s cancer battle. She died at the end of March and was buried at the start of April, with Jack sent to jail just over a week later.
Jack, who was already at the time on restricted, monitored release for an earlier assault charge, was first sent to Chelmsford Prison and placed in the jail’s secure hospital wing for his own safety. He was later transferred to HMP Edmunds Hill in Suffolk.
A source explained: “Of course he’s glad to be out, especially as he’s not even under curfew any more.
“Now he’s hoping to start rebuilding his life again properly. It’s been a difficult year.”
Victim Stephen Wilkins expressed upset at the brevity of Jack’s sentence in light of the severity of the attack. Magistrates admitted his sentence was reduced because of the “the recent change in [Jack’s] personal circumstances”.
