Katie Price and Peter Andre could be divorced in just six weeks after the glamour model finally accepted their marriage was over this week.

In the three weeks since their separation was announced, Katie, also known as Jordan, is said to have repeatedly asked Peter to reconsider and to give their relationship another go - but she is now said to have realised that it is not going to happen.

A source close to Katie told the News of the World: “This has been a landmark couple of days for Katie. It’s sad, but she’s given up the fight.

“She now accepts she’s never getting Peter back and is ready to move on with her life. It hasn’t been easy but she knows it’s necessary to enable her to eventually get on with things.”

Peter is expected to file for divorce immediately, citing Katie’s “unreasonable behaviour” as justification for a quick turnaround - a ‘no-fault’ divorce would take more than two years.

The source added: “The last five days have completely changed her frame of mind. She’s gone from REFUSING to consider the possibility of divorce to AGREEING it’s a necessity.

“She doesn’t want it dragging on and has decided that if this is what Peter really wants then that’s what he’s going to get.

“It’s still incredibly emotional for her and she feels under constant attack but she knows this is what has to happen.”

But while the divorce is what Peter wants, sources close to the singer say he’s far from happy: “He’s been more emotional this week than at at any time so far. The reality has kicked in and as a result he’s hit rock bottom.

“I’ve never seen him like this before. He’s a mess. The meetings with the lawyers hit him really hard. He came out afterwards and just broke down.

“It was the utter realisation that his family life is never going to be the same. Everything he held so dear is now gone.”

With a pre-nuptial agreement in place, Peter is not expected to request any financial support from the glamour model but will fight for joint custody of their children Junior & Princess, and will also request access to Katie’s seven year old son from a previous relationship, Harvey.
