Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart may have just been pretending when they leaned in for a smooch while picking up their MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss on Sunday night - but sources close to the couple claim it was a double bluff.

The pair, who co-star in the Twilight series, have been frequently linked off-screen as well as on over the last few months but have denied the rumours, saying Kristen is still in her four year relationship with another actor, Michael Arangano. However, the pair were spotted holding hands throughout their post-Award Show dinner at Cecconi’s in Los Angeles late on Sunday night - with Arangano nowhere in sight.

A source close to the pair told the New York Daily News: “Rob is obsessed with Kristen and has been for a while. He likes that she’s a cool, down-to-earth girl.

“Kristen never saw Rob as anything but a friend, but that seems to be changing.”

A second source added: “[After the first film as so successful] they’re relaxing more on set and with each other, and it was almost inevitable that something would blossom between them.

“They’re both mad about music so they’ve bonded over that a lot but their biggest attraction is having someone who is going through the same thing as them [sudden celebrity].”
