Victoria Beckham is reportedly vying for a role in the next Sex and the City film.

The former Spice Girl was rumoured to be planning to launch an acting career when she first moved to Hollywood in 2007 but quickly dismissed the rumours, saying anyone who had seen her performance in Spice World would know it was a bad idea and she would prefer to concentrate on her fashion line. However, in late 2007, she filmed a cameo for Ugly Betty because of the show’s fashion focus and now a source close to the star has said she wants to appear in the second Sex and the City film for the same reason - but also wants to use it as a stepping-stone to bigger things.

The source quoted in the News of the World explained: “Victoria has always loved the cinema, especially old films because of the glamour of people like Audrey Hepburn, who has been her style icon for years.

“They’ve already talked about doing a cameo walk-on role, but now Victoria is desperate for an acting career, they might even try to string out a bigger role.

“She’s decided she has done everything else so she now wants to pursue a career in films.”

The source added that she has signed up for private acting lessons to convince producers she’s more than just a token famous face: “She’s really caught the acting bug.

“The acting lessons are really stretching her to the limit but she’s enjoying them. If they go well she wants to start at auditions.”

The Sex and the City sequel is set to start filming later this summer and will be released next year.
