As previously rumoured, Usher has filed from divorce from wife Tameka Foster.

Papers were filed on behalf of the R&B star at the Superior Court in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday. The couple married in a private ceremony in the city in August 2007 after their planned lavish ceremony in New York was called off at the last minute.

The legal documents do not state a reason for the split but sources close to the couple claim they’ve been living apart for months and Usher thinks it’s time to move on.

A source told Us Weekly that Usher’s main concern is for their sons, 21 month old Usher Raymond V and six month old Naviyd: “Usher just wants what’s best for the kids.”

After the papers were filed on Friday, Usher was spotted out at Los Angeles nightclub MyHouse that evening.

One onlooker reported: “He was just hanging out with friends at the back, very low-key.

“He looked relieved and happy.”

The couple are due in court on 15th July to discuss the split and they are expected to seek joint custody of the boys.
