David Carradine funeral held
Tom Selleck, Jane Seymour, Lucy Liu were among mourners at David Carradine’s funeral yesterday evening (13.06.09).
Friends and family of the actor - who was found dead in his hotel room in Bankok on June 4 aged 72 - gathered at a chapel at the Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Cemetery to pay their respects in a “touching, light-hearted ceremony”.
The 400 guests caused a stir with their wacky outfits, shunning traditional black in favour of kilts, Native American headdresses, multi-coloured cowboy boots and leather fringed jackets.
The white hearse containing the actor’s body was flanked by an escort of Hell’s Angeles on motorcycles as it drove to the chapel.
David’s brother Bruce said: “It was touching, but light-hearted. There weren’t a lot of tears, but there was a lot of laughter.”
During the two-hour memorial, David’s brothers, six children and friends spoke about their memories of the star, before a photo montage of his life was projected onto a big screen and family members performed on the piano and harp.
Following the service, a group of Lakota tribal members burned incense outside the chapel and gave blessings to a number of funeral-goers.
An investigation into David’s death is still ongoing after his family hired an independent pathologist after disagreeing with the initial verdict of suicide.
The ‘Kill Bill’ star’ body was found hanging in his hotel room closet, naked and partially bound.
