Peter Andre wants to be friends with Katie Price.

The ‘Behind Closed Doors’ singer - whose divorce from the glamour model will be finalised in five weeks - wants relations between the pair to improve for the sake of their children, Junior, four, and two-year-old Princess Tiaamii, and his step-son with Katie, seven-year-old Harvey.

He said: “I have said before that I reckon for the sake of your kids you will do a lot, you will compromise and do things and I think yes there will be a point, just when things are a bit raw, in the big picture it’s only been four months.”

Peter believes his willingness to offer an olive branch to Katie - also known as Jordan - stems from the fact he is now happy in his life.

He added during an appearance on British TV show ‘Live From Studio Five’: “I’ve thought about it for the kids, but I’ve not thought about how or when I just know that time is a healer, everybody says that, and I believe it.

“Now I look at myself compared to two months ago and I’m a completely different person, I’m a lot more happy, I’m a lot more settled, I feel really positive, I mean I have my negative days but in general I’m pretty strong and two months ago I felt very weak.”

Since the split in May, the former couple have regularly criticised each other in the media and Peter is said to be furious Katie already has a new boyfriend, cage fighter Alex Reid, who she has introduced to the children.
