Video: Miley and Mandy Go Green

Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux have filmed a part-skit, part-music video, part-educational clip about the importance of Going Green.

It’s an important message but I think they could have come up with some better hints - yeah, turn off your cellphone charger when it’s done but more importantly, don’t upgrade it just because a new model or colour has come out, and when you do get rid of it, dispose of it properly (so many charities take them for redistribution now that there is no excuse).

As for water bottles, yes, refill them then recycle - but also avoid getting them in the first place wherever possible: install a filter at home if you’re bothered about drinking tap water and make the suggestion to restaurants too. Bottled water is very heavy and inefficient to transport around so it’s not just the plastic bottle that’s wasted when you drink it.

Get composting, use public transport, eat food grown locally and speak out against energy wasting.

Video: Girls Aloud’s Jump(ing) at V2008

Clad in tight black outfits, Girls Aloud performed their version of the Pointer Sisters’ classic ‘Jump’ at the V-Festival this weekend.

There are a few bum notes in there, but with all that running - and jumping - around, who can blame them?

Video: The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony at V2008

Back in the day, specifically the day that was 1997, The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony was the song of the summer and I made it my mission to get to the front of the crowd for the performance of that track at that year’s Reading Festival.

To be honest, I don’t remember much of what was going on on-stage - just being squished against the barrier and falling in love with the security staff who were passing out cups of water. But that’s what festivals are all about, right? If you want to listen to the music, you stay at home and watch it on TV - or YouTube.

So here is the band in question performing that very track at the V-Festival, V2008, this weekend. If you were in the front row at either of the sites this weekend, this is what you missed.

Video: Sugababes at V2008

As well as La Morisette, The Sugababes played at the Chelmsford V2008 site yesterday.

Here’s a video of their hit ‘Freak like me” - the vocal mix sounds a little out but otherwise it’s a top performance.

Video: Alanis Morissette’s Ironic at the V Festival

I was reading an interview with Alanis Morissette on Friday and got a major craving to listen to her ‘Jagged Little Pill’ album - the album of my 1996 (like, I presume, just about everyone who was a teenage girl around that time).

How fitting then that Alanis showed up at the V2008 this weekend - here’s her hit ‘Ironic’ from Chelmsford yesterday. She’s playing at the Staffordshire site today.
