Angelina Jolie: Madonna must have known adoption would be controversial

Angelina Jolie believes Madonna must have known that her adoption of a baby from Malawi would be controversial because she knew that the country is not covered by the Hague Convention for intercountry adoption. Madonna’s adoption of 15 month old David Banda is being challenged in Malawi by a coalition…

It seems like Madonna just doing it to keep up with the Jones. Why now? she is getting behind with the Hollywood trend? She has to catch up. It does not matter who she hurts emotionaly, she has to have a black kid in her arm like she doing somthing good. she could just he insisted to help the father so he can keep his baby. According to Madonna, does not want to do that. He is visiting his son daily so you think he does not want to be with his kid? He can not afford to feed the kid, that’s what his problem is.

I was a bit shocked when a I saw in a french broadcast how Madonna “get” the adoption of this little boy in a country where people from abroad could not normally adopt. In fact she’s donated $5 million or 2, I don’t exactly remember, anyway a certain amount of money to her foundation in Malawi, but also inderectly to some ministers and justices to prove her “bona fide” and financial commitement to the country even she’s not living there. I don’t have anything against the fact that she adopted an african baby, on the contrary I know that David Bana will have a much more better life with Madonna- yet if financial safety and comfort will be sufficient for a human being remains to be seen. Needless to say that David has also a father alive. What most shocks me is the money involved, and how authorities in Malawi grant adoptions on behalf of financial investment.

She told the world the father of this child has HIV when he was trying to keep it quiet. But the father also lied and said he didn’t aggree to him being adopted permanently. I think next time she decides to adopt she needs to think it through carefully. Anyway this child is lucky. I hope she teaches him about where he is from and makes sure he speaks Malawi as well as English. I’m sure she is a smart mum, though she comes across as a hard woman sometimes.

which broadcast?

hi Leva! well it was on french M6, not a tabloid like broadcast. there were relevant investigations and direct interviews with the people in question except Madge’s staff who refused to talk with them. but the judges and a minister that granted the adoption did as well as the people from the village where David comes from, and the NGO’s which contest the adoption. I think that the laters were much more angry because they’ve got anything from Madonna, but basically the adoptin was granted because Madonna “invested” enough money in the country.

I think that Madonna is aging now. It’s a pity that a rebel at heart like she used to be now speaks with a faux british accent, pretends to be more french than american because she has french ancestors (whose white american people don’t have a little french blood? that makes them french?), sways from catholicism to hinduism and now kabbalah.

She is not doing bad for her age. She dances better than me! She also has better legs than I have.

I just returned from a trip to South Africa and noticed that the only people who criticize Madonna’s adoption are comfortable British, Europeans and Americans who don’t have an idea what circumstances these children come from. Not one single paper or person in SA thought the adoption was a “fashion statement”. When you see a four year old taking care of a two year old on the streets you take your hat off to anyone who would be willing to give such a child a home, food, medical service and I do believe love as well. If none of you are willing to donate money or give a child a home, I suggest you shut up!

Anne we have some ideas how horrible the situations are for these kids. I have seen kids selling flowers on the streeets of bangkok and Mexico..I know they’re meant to be in schools. Poverty is not a difficult concept to understand. What we don’t want to see is a superstar making up the laws so she can have her black rescued baby! We don’t praise them. We question them. Especially when she was given the baby so quickly after she gave some money away. What makes it more horrible is she thinks what she’s done was really good. My god it was anything but charitable! She could build the academy (like winfrey did) or set up a centre where western doctors can work for free. There’re a lot of things she could do.
She can even campaign for protected sex in Malawi.

I give my money away monthly to oxfam. I don’t think what she has done was good at all..she thinks she’s above the laws or something? I think she should shut her mouth on the adoption. She sets a really bad example for people who want to adopt.
