In fact he did stay there and they WANT their audience to think they are a HOT COUPLE, but the reality is…. strangely…it is acting and she is hiding her real life behind a public act. Actually they were only “dating” (contractually paid and managerially organised) a few days before CANNES so that they would PRE-EMPT a repeat of Cannes 2007 when audiences focused on Angelia and Brad : thank Huvane. Having fun? …sure, a game ? sure ? in front of an audience ? sure… and her manager orchestrated the whole act… and they will make sure as many articles as possible are invented to insult her exhusband the whole time….. In case you conveniently forget, she is an actress who plays *THIS EXACT SAME ROLE* for a LIVING. This is how she made her career. Why is it such a stretch to say she wouldn’t hide her REAL personal life by controlling the media and saving herself the misery of invasive public scrutiny ? Really. You must know nothing about the way the public relations industry functions. John Mayer will do ANYTHING for publicity (kiss Perez, wear green Borat swimming thong after the joke is old, blog about pissing on his girlfriends etc….) and this is the reason for the weird match up : publicity generation. This publicity generation serves a purpose (like Paris Hilton’s sex tape): it promotes their career. It isn’t reality. They dont admit it. The just perform and let the media speculate and do whatever they want in their own time, secretly. THAT is reality.

The whole thing is to irritate her exhusband. It shows you the Machiavellian aspect to the LA film/media industries. If you never worked there you see Glitz and Glam, another reality is interpersonal hostility, backstabbing, vulgar egotism, character assassination, career games etc… These stories are created by business people and investors more than the actors and created to generate more business. With other actors it is different, but after her divorce, she became completely guarded as the miseries of her personal life unfolded into the international press. It is a well organised and orchestrated defence mechanism and from my perspective, completely understandable.
