It is truly amazing how much African Americans have progressed within the last few decades. Also, its hard to believe that a group of people can go from being slaves to ruling the same country. It was a huge step that will live on in history forever and will be remembered as one of the most important events in US history. It may not be a big deal for my generation or the generations to come, because we have not witnessed segrigation between blacks and whites. However, the day that we elected Barak Obama as our 44th US president, meant the world to people who at one point in history did not have the same rights as other ethnicities.
