Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi are reportedly planning to marry after the Supreme Court of California overturned the state’s ban on same-sex marriage.

According to an audience member at the Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, Ellen announced the couple’s plans before inviting Portia to join her on-stage, where they hugged: “Everyone was delighted for them and the cheering was deafening.”

The show will air in the US today. No further details were given as to when the nuptials will take place: weddings will be legal in the state from 14th June 2008.

Billie Piper will have a body double for the second series of The Secret Diary of a Call Girl to hide her baby bump in nude scenes.

Last month Billie reportedly told friends and family that she is pregnant with her first child, worrying producers of the sexy ITV drama.

An inside source has now told the Mirror: “This was a mutual decision. The double won’t be used all the time, only when they have to, for example, for any nude scenes.

“It’s whatever she finds appropriate being pregnant. This has to be taken into account.”

The former Doctor Who star, who is said to be around three months pregnant, married Laurence Fox on New Year’s Eve.

TV presenter Kate Thornton has given birth to her first child.

Kate and fiance Darren Emerson welcomed son Ben into the world on Tuesday and a spokesperson for the former The X Factor presenter said now: “Mum, Dad and baby are all at home resting up.”

Kate and DJ Darren got together in 2004 and got engaged last year but decided to postpone their nuptials when Kate got pregnant.

Shania Twain has split from her husband, producer Robert “Mutt” Lange.

The country star’s spokesperson confirmed the news yesterday, saying: “Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage.

“This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time.”

The couple married in 1993 just six months after they first met. They have a six year old son, Eja D’Angelo.

John Mayer’s new, very public, relationship with Jennifer Aniston was reportedly the final nail in the coffin for his ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo’s romance.

Jessica is said to have split from Tony last week after she reacted badly to the press coverage of John’s new love affair.

A source told Us Weekly that the former Newlyweds star got very drunk at the weekend to blot out the memory of John and Jennifer’s various photographed hook-ups, including Saturday’s swimming pool session. The source told the magazine that Jessica began drinking around 4pm with close friend CaCee Cobb and her boyfriend Donald Faison at Mexicali Cocina Cantina in Los Angeles and by 9pm, had to call mum Tina for a lift home.

Meanwhile Dallas Cowboys player Tony was surrounded by available women on a night out in Chicago. An onlooker at the party told Life & Style magazine: “He was surrounded by girls. We had to restrain someone who forcibly tried to make her way to his table… He zeroed in on one blonde all night, and that blonde wasn’t Jessica Simpson.”

In a case of awkward timing, an interview with Jessica from March was published in Glamour magazine this week, with the actress telling the magazine that she wants to “get married and have kids” and that Tony might be the man to do it with. But, she added, “this article could come out and Tony and I could be broken up.”

Jessica had been dating Tony for around six months after splitting from John last year. John and Jennifer were first linked after being spotted together in Miami last month while Jennifer was filming Marley & Me in the area. Filming wrapped at the weekend and the new couple were spotted together in New York last night, enjoying dinner with friends at the Waverly Inn then hugging and kissing to music at Hudson Bar and Books.

Victoria Beckham has denied that she pulls an especially pouty face whenever a camera is pointed at her: that’s just the way she looks.

She told GMTV’s Fiona Phillips: “When I see pictures I do sometimes think ‘You miserable cow!’ But I think it’s just the way my face falls.

“If people like the way I look then great, and if they don’t then fine.”

Contrary to appearances, she insists she’s a very happy person and she loves life in Los Angeles: “You know it’s a great place to bring up children. It’s great for me and my career.

“You know, David - it’s tough the football because it’s completely different - but he went there for a reason, he’s trying to change the face of soccer in America.”

She added that she also loves her A-list social life, especially friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes: “Do you know we go to lots of different things together and they’re great and really normal. But people don’t want to hear that, people want to hear that people are weird.”
